P/TXTTXT1

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

File contents
There are two files on this disc which I got from Richard Dimond some time
ago called TYPE and TYPEIN.

Typein will allow you to produce a text file similar to a view file or one
using build. You simply type in your text pressing RETURN after each line.
To exit and save your text type 999 <ret>

It isn't as versitile as View by a long shot but is never-the-less an
interesting exercise and may be extreemly useful. I have been meaning for
some time to use this program as a possable basis for an EUG word
processor. Something which will have the most useful commands found on
View but without all the features which I never use. It could also
incorporate a spellchecker such as the one published in Electron User some
years ago. It might also have a SAVE protection routine and perhaps some
means of printing different font characters and underline to the screen as
well as the printer instead of the system used in View with symbols.

This is alas simply a pipedream at the moment as I haven't had the time to
even start it.

Type allows you to look at a text file and was I believe a basis for an
early version of the EUG code4.
