L/+Borer1

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Dear Gus,
Re: EUG27
I wonder how this disk alters from EUG 26? With no change to my main
Electron set-up it runs right through the whole menu with no hiccups!
However, I do get "not found at line 140" when selecting 5 of the
Features menu. Looking at the programme I see that line 710 calls
for +HINT but there is no *HINT file on my disk. If my EUG26 disk
is in error perhaps you you could send me a corrected one and I
will return the one I have now.
Advances with the MITAC.
I now have a SuperSync 3A 14" colour monitor that can be set as SVGA
or VGA, but I can only use the VGA lesser definition (less pixels)
with the 386 MITAC. Also I have fitted an IBM PS/2 compatible keyboard
and an Eklipse serial mouse, so that I vitually have a 386 PC. I have
now started to use the XtreePro and this indicates that the hard disk
capacity is 64MB - enough to keep me amused!
My overall set=up.
I have just finished a major revision of the layout of my system,
using one computer desk and two computer work-stations end to end with
the MITAC and monitor one end of the row and the two ELectrons and two
BBC's in between, with the Cub monitor wall mounted at the opposite
end. All the wiring has to be seen to be believed with all the Addons
I have fitted as well!
I whizz across the lot with one of these swivel executive chairs on
rollers.
Numbering my letters.
In case anyone is wondering why I number my letters it is for ready
access for me, for my memory is not what it was and having studied
something and written it up for EUG it is helpful as an aide memoir.
For example, I do not always remember the sequence for setting up
ADDCOMM from the ROM image so the appropriate letter is a quick
reference for I do not have it written down elsewhere, nor needed.
Ron Kilroy.
Like Ron, I have bought quite a lot of items but from the Micro
Computer Mart rather than Car Boot sales. Although, in the main, I
have gone for hardware, I have had a lot of software thrown in. At
present I am going through all the 5 1/4" disks and extracting what I
want to keep and reformatting the disks thrown up for future use. So
you nearly had me going, Gus, with your 3 1/2" suggestion - but I
could have accommodated it. A point with changing the DIP switch
setting for line feed is that if one then uses a word processor ROM
the printing will be at double spacing. Changing DIP switches on the
Panasonic is a fiddle to be avoided if at all possible. Not so bad on
later machines with electronic DIP switches. I find that Car Boot
sales in this neck of the woods are a bit of a busted flush.
Best wishes,
Tony.

THE PROBLEM WITH THE MENU AROSE BECAUSE I REALISED AT THE LAST MINUTE THAT
I COULDN'T FIT THE HINTS FILES ONTO EUG27 BUT FORGOT TO TAKE IT OFF THE
MENU. THE FIRST PART OF THE HINTS ARE ON THIS DISC IN THE FEATURES MENU,
WORH A LOOK.

I CAN JUST IMAGINE YOU WHIZZING ABOUT YOUR ROOM ON A SWIVEL CHAIR. I ONCE
BOUGHT ONE OF THOSE WITH THE SAME INTENTION, UNFORTUNATELY I BOUGHT A
CHEAP ONE AND THE WHEELS BECAME STUCK AND I WENT FLYING. MY WIFE CANE
RUSHING IN AND STARTED TELLING ME OFF FOR BEING SO STUPID WHILE I WAS
LYING ON THE GROUND WITH A BRUSED ARM AND AN EVEN MORE BRUSED EGO.

YOU ARE OFCOURSE RIGHT ABOUT CHANGING DIP SWITCHES, THEY ARE FIDDLY AND
THE POSSABILITY OF BREAKING THEM DOES EXIST. MOST PRINTERS AS FAR AS I
KNOW WILL ACCEPT SOFTWARE COMMANDS TO EFFECT ANY CHANGES IN CONFIGURATION
BUT OFCORESE THESE WILL NEED TO BE ENTERES EACH TIME THE PRINTER IS
SWITCHED ON. I PUT MINE INTO A !BOOT FILE.
