Zool Patch Version 1.00 20 April 1993 ======================= ============= For ACORN COMPUTING ********************************************************** READ ALL THIS FILE CAREFULLY BEFORE RUNNING THIS PATCH ********************************************************** Background ========== After looking at Zool at the Acorn User show in Harrogate, I was dissapointed to find out that the Archimedes version of the said game didn't have raster/ copper bars, like the A*i*a version. Presented here is a patch that puts this right. The Patch ========= The patch must be installed before loading Zool. I * strongly * suggest that you save all work on the desktop and quit applications before running the patch - this is because of the problems associated with the patch routine. The patch routine will not work with all combinations of hardware, one side effect we have found is that on some machines, the floppy disk drives fail to work after loading the patch. If this is the case, you'll have to run Zool/ZoolDemo from a hard disk or a RAM disk. To use the patch, Double click !ZoolPatch. Then load Zool or the Zool demo, and once in the game, press F9 to toggle the copper bars on and off, and press F10 to alter the background colours. Because the copper routine is processor intensive, the game may slow down at times - if this is the case, use a set of colours that have less colours in them.
