VIEW/GEOGRAPHY/DATA

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

CE DATA RESULTS

Topresent all the collected data and draw conclusions from
it I have decided to divide this project into sections of physical
factors and their influence on land use. That way the differnet
factors can be handled seperately and any conclusions drawn will be
much clearer to see. However I also realise that land use may
depend on anumberof factors and so I will take all the factors
into account when considering each one. After these sections there
will be my case-studies and human influence notes and then a final
summing up of what I believe my project has achieved.

First of allthough, the map on the following page shows
the land use for the whole of Chipstead paish. From this map it is
possible to view the parish as a number of regions of different
land use. It seems that housing is concentrated in the north of
Chipstead and woodland mainly around the centre of the parish. It
also looks as if animal grazing occurs in the South-west corner and
mainly to the 'right' side of the village, wheras the arable fields
are more on the left, in Chipstead Bottom. It should be noted here
that a number of the fields marked on the map as arable were
actually left uncultivated when I was doing my fieldwork. These
have been marked on the map with a letter 'F'. There is more about
these fields later on and for the purposes of this project I have
counted them as arable fields. Photograph A from the back of this
project shows one such fallow field.

The reason for the lack of data on parts of the East
side of the parish was that I decided that I wouldn't study any
areas outside the village, and so stopped at all the boundarys.
Finally, the pie chart below shows the distribution of land use in
the parish of Chipstead.
