This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Taipei is a 2,500 year old Chinese game.
144 tiles are arranged in the form of a Chinese
Dragon, and the objective is to remove 'free'
tiles until the board is clear.
A tile is free when it is at the left or right
end of a row. Remember that the tiles are also
stacked on top of each other.
There are 36 sets of 4 tiles which match (only
tiles that match can be removed).
34 sets of tiles have the same design, while 2
sets (flowers and seasons) have different
designs. You can match SUM, WIN, AUT and SPR
(seasons), and MUM, BAM, PLU and ORC (flowers).
The game is controlled by the mouse.
Point at a tile and click Select to choose it.
If you choose the wrong tile just click Select
again and choose another.
If the tile you choose isn't free, or if your
two selections don't match, the game will show
a message at the bottom of the window.
Clicking the Menu button whilst over the Taipei
main game window will display a menu with these
choices;
End Check - this will check for any remaining
free tiles and let you know how
many are left.
Hint - this will highlight the next free
matching tiles (if any).
New Game - this will shuffle the tiles and
intialise all variables for a new
game.
Start Over - this gives you the chance to play
the game again using the same set
of tiles.
Clicking the Menu button whilst over the Taipei
icon on the iconbar will display a menu with
the following choices;
Game Help - runs this !Help application.
Info - displays the usual Program Info.
Quit - deletes the program from memory.
