ArtToSpr/WavePlayer/Help/TextHelp/2e-Volume

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

| VOLUME CONTROL |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+

The volume control can be accessed by clicking on the volume control icon
next to the Wave Player icon on the icon bar. Drag the slider to set the
volume from 0% to 100%. Please note that when dragging the slider, there may
be a slight pause between moving the slider, and the volume being set.

The volume is on an approximately linear scale, as opposed to the
logarithmic scale often employed in other programs. That means that 50% is
roughly half the volume, instead of being around a quarter.

Below the volume control are two buttons. The left-hand one is the mute
button; if this is yellow, then the sound is played, but if it has a cross
through the speaker, then the sound is not played. The right-hand button
controls the speaker; if it is yellow, and has a tick, then the speaker is
activated, but if the symbol is a pair of headphones, then the speaker is
turned off.

  Please note:
        1) The mute button does *not* stop the sample; it simply sets the
              volume to 0%.
        2) The speaker button will have no effect on an A3010, A3020, A7000
              or Risc PC.
