Examples/!Animals/Otter

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

A member of the mustelidae (weasel) family, well adapted to an amphibious way of life. It is about 1 metre in length with a tail measuring 50 cm. The otter dives with great skill, feeding on salmon, trout and eels, and will also catch and eat crayfish, frogs, water fowl and small mammals. There is no specific breeding season and young are born at any time, but there will only be one litter a year. Up to five cubs can be born but more usually a litter consists of from two to four cubs. They are born in a holt, which can be a tunnel among tree roots or a hole in the river bank above the water level. The female remains with her young until the next mating season. Today the otter is rare, trapping and river pollution being two major reasons for its decline.*Text*84DrawHilighter \	\
