CREATING A ONE-NUMBER IRRATIONAL RHYTHM
� Put down the first note only of the irrati-
onal rhythm, with the unit length you re-
quire
� Move into the Rhythm�Irrational window, and
type the number (from 2 to 63) into the box
� Choose 'x' format (or No numbers if you
don't want a number to be drawn)
� Choose Bracket if you want the irrational
rhythm notes to be bracketed
� Click on OK
� Click Adjust just to the left of the first
note of the irrational rhythm, and at the
height above or below the stave you want the
number to go at. (Use Alt-Adjust if the
irrational rhythm is to go into the second
voice.)
Ctrl-I produces the last irrational rhythm you
chose from the menu again.
DRAGGING THE NUMBER/BRACKET
You can move the number and bracket up and
down by pressing Select on the number and
dragging. (Press Select on the middle of the
bracket if there is no number.) The tips of
the bracket automatically point upwards when
the bracket goes below the middle of a stave.
You can adjust the angle of the bracket and
number by pressing Select on either tip of the
bracket and dragging.
REMOVING A BRACKET
� Click on one of the tips of the bracket
� Press Delete.
COPYING IRRATIONAL RHYTHMS
� Select an irrational rhythm�s bracket or
number
� Copy the irrational rhythm with Adjust as if
you had just chosen it from the menu.
DELETING IRRATIONAL RHYTHMS
� Select an irrational rhythm�s number, or the
middle of the bracket if there is no number
� Press Delete.
The irrational rhythm will be replaced with
rests - the notes can�t be kept, otherwise the
bar wouldn�t add up.
If there is neither a bracket nor a number,
you can�t delete the irrational rhythm direct-
ly as there is nothing to select. Instead,
either extend a note before the irrational to
swallow it up, or erase the whole bar by
double-clicking Select on the stave and
pressing F12.
