This particular ant is 3-7 mm. in body length. It is dark reddish brown in colour. It can be found on heathland nesting in the ground. This ant will be attracted to the caterpillar of the large blue butterfly because of a sticky secretion from the caterpillar. It will then carry the caterpillar into its nest, where it feeds on the ants larvae until it becomes the large blue butterfly, Britain's rarest blue butterfly. � *Text*273 � Draw� Hilighter � \ � � \
