This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Introduction
------------
!Card2, the sequel to !Card, has many more features for ease of use as well
as making the finished output look more professional. !Card2 is the
Archimedes application that lets you design and edit an address card that
can be just for personal use or for a business.
Features of Card2 that the original didn't have:-
� Printing from within application, i.e. no more having to save file into
draw just to print
� Full colour card can be produced for colour output
� Printing and saving of cards can be done as a single card or as 8 cards
filling up an A4 sheet
� Sprite files can be imported to let you have your business logo or
anything you desire on your card
� Full height and width control of font sizes
� Fully Risc OS 2 and 3 compatible
� Interface Manager supported
How to use
----------
Simply double click on the !Card2 application in the directory viewer and it
will appear on the icon bar. Click left hand mouse button (Select) on the
!Card2 icon and a window will open in which you type in the details. Click
right hand mouse button (Adjust) to view the card as it will be outputed.
Details window
--------------
Clicking middle button over one of the icons under the word 'Font :-' will
bring up a menu from which you can select the font type for the item to the
left of it.
Changing the icons which are under the word 'w x h' will change the font
width and height respectively for the item to the left of it. Pressing
return will move the caret down to the next size.
Type in the text you wish for each part in the boxes under the word 'Text
:-'. Pressing return after each one will move the cursor down a box.
Once you have typed in the details either select 'View' from a menu or click
right hand button on the !Card icon on the icon bar.
Clicking on the option items 'Scale to box' and 'Scale view' will select the
method that you wish the sprite to be displayed if you have loaded a sprite
into the program. 'Scale to box' will make the sprite fill the box with
height and width at different ratios if necessary therefore distorting the
picture.'Scale view' will make the sprite adjust its size, height and width
at the same ratio therefore not distorting the picture, to fit the box if it
is bigger than the box or at its usual size if it smaller.
Clicking over the coloured rectangles at the far right of the window will
allow you to change the font colour of the item to the left of it.
The window title will have the name of the data file that you have
saved/loaded and an asterisk (*) beside it signifies that you have not saved
current modifications
Colours
-------
When the colour window is open you can change the colour of the object you
have previously selected, either font colour of card background colour.
Selecting one of the 16 colours at the bottom of the window will select that
colour. Alternatively you can drag the three slide bars above to achieve the
colour you wish. You can also use the � and � buttons next to each of the
three primary colours (red, green and blue) for fine tuning. Each of the
primary colours can be in the range of 0 to 255
The colour currently chosen will appear between the 'O.K.' and 'Cancel'
buttons.
Clicking 'O.K.' will select the currently chosen colour for the object you
have preciously selected.
Clicking 'Cancel' will close the colour window.
Sprites - logos
---------------
If you wish to have a logo within your card simply drag a sprite file
containing it into the program. This will display the sprite in the box in
the details window. Clicking middle button over the box with the sprite in
will bring up a menu with list of sprites that are in the file. Selecting
one will make that the currently selected sprite which will appear in the
box.
Click middle button anywhere else will bring up the main menu which will
have a sub menu 'Picture �' if you have loaded sprites into the program.
This will allow you to select the method that the sprite will be shown.
Selecting 'Force Scale' will make the sprite fill the box with height and
width ratio the same if the sprite is smaller than the box. 'Centred' will
centre the sprite in the box. 'Del Pic' will delete the sprite file from
memory. 'Save Pic' will allow you to save the currently selected or all of
the sprites to disk.
Warning:
Please do not try to load more than one sprite at a time, any sprite that
has the name !Sprites usualy contains more than one sprite. If you have a
sprite contained within a file called !Sprites then load it into !Paint and
re-save it as a seperate sprite. Refer to your user guide that came with
your computer, for further information.
Viewing card
------------
To view the card click adjust on the Card2 icon or select 'View' from the
main menu. Clicking select on the card view or selecting 'Back Col' from the
menu brought up whilst over the card view will allow you to change the
background colour of the card.
If you like what you see when you view the card then you can save it, or
print it
Saving
------
You can save the card as a data file, which can be loaded back into the
program at a later date, or as a draw file. To do this drag the Draw file or
data file from a save window brought up from the menu by going across
'Save �' and then 'Draw �' or 'Data �'. You can save either file directly
into another program by dragging the file icon into the program. You can also
save the sprite files used in your card as documented in 'Sprites - logos'
above.
Loading
-------
To load a data file simply drag it onto the icon bar. Data files from the
original !Card program will be accepted.
To load a sprite file simply drag it onto the icon bar.
Printing
--------
To print open up the print window my going across from the menu item 'Print
�' on the main menu.
You must have loaded a Printer Driver to be able to print. If you haven't
then 'Not Present' will appear in the box where the type of printer normally
appears. Select the number of copies required by clicking over the � and �
buttons. Select if you wish to have only a single copy of the card or a full
sheet of cards by clicking over the option icons. Selecting 'Print' will
start the printing process.
You may also print by saving the file into draw and printing from draw but
both methods will produce the same results.
