This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

EasyKeys: Mouse operated keyboard emulations

EasyKeys provides five on-screen keyboards which allow you to enter characters using the mouse.
The advantages of this method of entry are obvious for children who do not know their way round a standard QWERTY keyboard, but the extended character keyboard and function key window are useful for any users of the machine.
Run this option to open a window containing the EasyKeys application. There are three ASCII keyboards which can be chosen from the Options submenu in the icon bar menu. These are as follows:
PRIMARY
This keyboard contains a basic alphabet and the number keys. In addition simple punctuation, Space, Delete, and Return are provided. The Caps key toggles between lower and upper case.
JUNIOR
This keyboard contains alphanumerics with limited punctuation and mathematical operator characters. Cursor and editing keys are available by clicking on the window's Toggle icon.
QWERTY
A larger keyboard with alphanumerics set out in the standard keyboard layout. All other ASCII keyboard characters are available, along with the editing keys, by using the window's Toggle icon.
There are two additional non-ASCII keyboards:
EXTENDED
A larger keyboard which gives access to the special characters with codes 128 to 255. This keyboard does not provide any other characters or functions.
FUNCTION.
A larger keyboard which gives access to the function keys. This keyboard does not provide any other characters or functions.
HOW TO USE EASYKEYS
-------------------
When an active keyboard is on screen, a different keyboard can be called from the icon bar Options menu. Only one ASCII keyboard is allowed on screen but the Extended and Function keyboards work independently. Press Select to operate a key. Menu has no function within the EasyKeys window. Adjust can be configured to give opposite case letters on the first three keyboards: this option is in the Options submenu.
Auto-repeat action can be selected or deselected in the Options menu.
The Find menu item brings the current keyboards to the front of the desktop. Clicking on the icon bar icon has the same effect.
Use the Acorn Help utility for a constant display of the character code produced by each key.
