This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

*INFO Compiled by Dave Lawrence and Dave Acton Run this application to open a directory containing the programs from this month's *INFO column. Note: The following programs will NOT run under Risc OS 2: Cockroach, MemSpeed and OnTime. Dismount is an application that allows easy mounting and dismounting of ADFS floppy discs in drive 0. Run the application to install an icon on the iconbar. Click Select on the icon to dismount the disc in drive 0, and Adjust to mount it. The Cockroach directory contains all the programs and files for the cockroach desktop 'silly'. The only two files you need are Roach and Roach_Spr. To try out cockroaches, double-click on the Obey file RoachLoad (which loads the sprites file Roach_Spr), and exit the desktop (by choosing the Exit option in the Task menu). Now type *Basic and CHAIN "Roach" to install the code, and then re-enter the desktop by typing *Desktop. The roaches will scurry around under the iconbar, and will run under nearby windows at random intervals. The files MakeRoach, RotRoach and Cockroach are used to create the Roach_Spr file. The Engine directory contains two programs, Engine and Engine2. These programs both depict a four-stroke engine at work; Engine2 is a compressed version of Engine and is slightly faster than the original. Before running either program you should set the memory slot for system sprites to at least 64K (using the Task display). Fans consists of two one-line programs which both display rotating fans. Choose fixed or random fans by pressing F or R when the program is run. Fruit is a one-line fruit machine. To run the program, make sure you have a Ram disc set up (using the Task display if necessary), set the Filer display options to Large icons and Sort by name, and open up the Ram disc. Double-click on Fruit, and four files will appear in the Ram disc: the first three represent the machine's reels, and the fourth (the Basic program) your money. To spin again, double-click on the Basic program. Each game costs �1 and if you run out of cash double-click on Fruit again. You win your stake back if any reel shows a text file. Get the first two reels the same and the prize is �3. Three in a row scores anything from �4 for three text files up to �10 for three absolute files. Griddle is a one-line game. You are asked for a difficulty level at the start, with one being the easiest. The computer overlays a given number of randomly spaced grids on the screen. As these are EOR plotted the end result is a weird combination of black and white areas. The idea of the game is to clear the screen to black by guessing the spacing of the overlayed grids on the screen. The spacing of each grid can be between one and nine and pressing a number key will either remove an existing grid or make the pattern more complex. You also cannot press the same number key twice in a row. MemSpeed will display the speed of the memory in your machine in MHz. The OnTime directory contains a module called OnTime, and its source code OnTimeSrc. This module displays the time while the Risc OS 3 desktop is initialising. To see the module in action, double-click on the OnTime module, and exit the desktop (by choosing the Exit option in the Task menu). Now type *Desktop and the desktop will initialise, complete with the correct time. Wring is an impossible graphical demo. Finally, the EightBit directory contains programs for use on the eight-bit BBC range only. The programs are included here for reference.
