Description
-----------
AcoPass is a program designed for the Acorn PocketBook I/II range of
machines (although it will also run on the Psion Series 3/3a machines).
It supplies access to the machine password protection that exists on
the Psion machines but was removed from the Acorn machines.
In adition, it offers an extra feature for Psion users not available
with the built in password controls (the ability to clear the password).

Installation
------------
Copy the file acopass.app to a directory on the machine (such as
M:\APP\) and then choose the "Install" option from the system screen.
A "door" icon should appear.
Usage
-----
Select the AcoPass icon, and press Enter. You will be presented with
an information dialog. Press Enter to pass this. If you have previously
set a password, you will be asked to type this in before you can
continue. You will then be presented with the main options dialog.
The "Password set" field controls whether or not the password screen
will be displayed when you turn the machine on.
The "New password" and "Confirm password" fields are used to alter
(or set) the current password. To set the current password, type the
same word (up to 8 characters long) into both the fields, and then
press Enter. If both fields match, the program will exit and the password
will be set.
Pressing the Escape key on any dialog will cause the program to exit
without altering the current setting.
Pressing the Help key on any dialog will cause the program to display
help information.
Machine on Password Screen
--------------------------
If you set the "Password set" field to "On", every time the machine is
switched on, you will be required to enter the password before the machine
can be used (or just press Enter if no password is set). The machine's
"Set owner" data will also be displayed on this screen.
If a password is set, THERE IS NO WAY PAST THIS SCREEN. You will need to
reset your machine should you forget the password! Remember, take backups
regularly
Altering "Password set" setting alone
-------------------------------------
If you wish to alter the "Password set" field without altering the password,
change it to the desired state and press Enter. If there is nothing in the
password fields, the program will ask if you wish to clear the current
password and you should reply N for no. The program will then exit without
altering the current password.
Clearing password
-----------------
If you set a password, but turn off the startup screen, and at a later
date you wish to turn it on, but you have forgotten the password you
earlier set, you will not be able to use the password function until
the machine has been reset.
If you intend turning off the password function, but using it at a later
date, you should ensure that no password has been set.
You can clear any current passord by not filling in the two password
fields (New and Confirm) with anything, and then pressing Enter.
The program will ask if you wish to clear the current password, and you
should reply Y for yes. The program will then exit having cleared the
current password.
