This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Notes on the latest version of Tracker ====================================== At present the wimpslot for Tracker is set at 640K which allows it to load the very large tunes such as Batmix (on Music Disc 1 - 380K+!). If you don't need to load such large tunes or would like to be able to run other applications on a 1Mb machine then alter the wimpslot setting in the !Run file (this is located inside the !Tracker directory - to get to it doulble-click on the !Tracker icon while holding down the <shift> key. It can edited using !Edit). Tracker will recognise Armadeus samples as being vaild samples for use and will load them correctly BUT make sure you set the Samples Format option to Linear Signed otherwise they will probably not load correctly. If you wish to load any other file as sample data make sure the filetype is set correctly otherwise Tracker will not show it (see later for filetypes). An important point to note is that for the play module or Jukebox to work thefile MUST be in Tracker format - just changing the filetype is not sufficient. You should load the tune into Tracker and then resave it as this will convert it automatically. All tunes supplied have already been convertedbut many modules you may have will need to be converted. The easiest way to save a module is to load it then exit back to the desktop from Tracker by clicking on the 'Quit' box. Then by clicking the menu button over the Tracker icon you will find a save option - follow this and then select the music option. A save dialogue box will appear and you can then enter the correct name for the module and drag it to a directory of your choice. The approved Acorn filetypes are as follows: &CB5 - Samples &CB6 - Music Modules All existing modules must have the correct file type set before Tracker will recognise them. You can use the supplied !SetModule application to do this ora program such as !Set-Type. To use the supplied utility simply double-click on it and its icon will appear on the icon bar. Drag an old type file to it and it will automtically set it correctly. Don't be confused by the fact thatthe icon for the module itself may not change (though it will if the computerhas 'seen' the Tracker application- the filetype will have been altered correctly. NOTE: Just changing the filetype does NOT convert the file; you need to proceed as noted above if you wish to use it with the Jukebox or play routine Hope you enjoy using Tracker!
