An amoeba is a single celled animal usually seen under a microscope, but just visible to the naked eye. It is a member of the protozoa family. Amoebas can be found in ponds and streams, even in animal water troughs and puddles. It has an irregular, constantly moving shape, with no mouth or stomach. It feeds on tiny plants and organic material by engulfing it and secreting juices to digest it. The amoeba has one nucleus which, when it reproduces, divides into two equal parts, forming two new single celled amoebas
