!Sibelius7/!Help/Partextrac

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

 ual players; messages

HOW TO EXTRACT

Choose one or more instruments from the
Instruments menu, using the Adjust button
for every one. All of the instruments you
choose will go into a single part.
   Choose ScoreExtract part.

SETTING THE STYLE OF EXTRACTED PARTS

Parts are respaced according to the width of
note spacing on the House styleSpacing menu,
so you can control the spacing of the entire
  part by choosing Close/Normal/Wide notes
before you extract. Most other options (such
as the page dimensions) are kept the same as
for the full score, but you can change them
  after you extract.

There is an easy way of getting a consistent
style for your parts which differs from the
style of the full score. First, make sure you
have saved the full score. Then choose the
page dimensions, note spacing, bar number
format etc. which you want for all the parts.
Save this modified full score under a differ-
ent filename, e.g. 'ForParts'. Then extract
parts from this new score; you can delete it
afterwards. The parts will all have the new
  style you have chosen.

You wont need to adjust the most important
options such as the name format, as Sibelius
sets these up for you while it extracts.

TRANSPOSITION

Before extracting, check that the House style
  LayoutTransposing score option is correct
(i.e. that it is off if your music is written
at sounding pitch). If it is off, parts for
  transposing instruments will become trans-
posed. Also, if your music is in C major or
A minor make sure that it shouldnt be set as
  atonal instead (see Atonal music).

Notes and chords arent the only things which
can be transposed when extracting: transposi-
tion also shifts some lines up or down if they
are meant to be above, below or beside a
  specific note.

Some transfers, such as those for microtones
and small accidentals, may be incorrect in a
transposed part because the note they are
referring to may have been transposed. For
  instance, a B quarter-flat transposed up a
  tone should become a C quarter-sharp. Since
Sibelius doesnt know why you are using a
  particular transfer, it cant substitute
  another one when transposing. Obviously,
normal accidentals on notes will be transposed
correctly, which is why you should use them
whenever possible in preference to transfers.
