Examples/!Animals/Red_squir

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

The red squirrel is native to Britain. It has a body length of 20 cm. to 25 cm. with a tail length of 15 cm. to 20 cm. Slightly smaller than the more common grey squirrel with prominent ear tufts in winter. The red squirrel is diurnal but is shy and difficult to spot. It lives mainly in coniferous forests and is most common in parts of Wales, East Anglia and Scotland. It builds a nest, called a drey, in a conifer tree and produces two litters of three or four kittens a year; one in spring and the other in autumn. It feeds on conifer seeds, buds, fungi and nuts. It is thought that an epidemic disease has caused a decline in the number of red squirrels.*Text*34DrawHilighter ^\	^\
