Logic Designer For the BBC 'B' Microcomputer By Darren Bird. 1.1 Program Description This program allows logic circuits to be designed using the main building blocks of digital systems to be implement a specific function. Once designed the circuit can be saved to disk (or tape) as a file, and at a later time re-loaded back into the memory when required. The program also allows for a printer copy to be produced, though the screen dump was designed to work on an EPSON printer, it should also work on other compatible ones. The program is menu driven and fairly easy to use. It is quite possible to return to the menu page at any time when designing a circuit without any loss to the present circuit in the memory. To erase a circuit, it is necessary to either; load in another circuit or press option 5 on the menu, which will erase the current circuit. 1.2 Using the program The program is menu driven and suitable prompts will be given when required to specific commands. In the design section of the program the position on the screen is indicated by a cross-wire cursor configuration which allows for the correct alignment of logic blocks on the screen. The position of the cursor is controlled by the cursor keys. To position a gate on the screen you must place the cursor at the required position on the screen, this will represent the top-left hand corner of the gate and then press the function key for the gate wanted. The list of available gates is given at the bottom of the screen. If you want to delete this block, place the cursor at the same position and press the function key that that gate represents. Wiring is acheived by pressing f7 - MOVE, to position the starting point of the wire and then move the cursor to the next position and press f8 - WIRE to generate a wire between these two points.
