DEFINITION
Grace-notes are small notes which are played
very quickly, being 'crushed' into the
previous or following note. Hence, unlike
cue-notes, they do not use up any rhythm in a
bar.
Grace-notes with a diagonal line through the
stem are called 'acciaccaturas'; ones without
lines are 'appoggiaturas'.
CREATING A GRACE-NOTE
� Choose Rhythm�Acciaccatura/Appoggiatura
� Position by clicking Adjust (or Alt-Adjust
for the second voice).
Grace-notes appear as quavers by default.
Further grace-notes can be placed on either
side of an existing one, and they will be
automatically beamed to it.
MODIFYING A GRACE-NOTE
The following operations work for grace-notes
in the same way as for normal notes:
� Dragging left, right, up and down
� Accidental function keys
� Articulation mark function keys
� Note-value function keys up to a minim (but
not semibreve, breve or the rhythmic dot,
since grace-notes shouldn't use them)
� Beam function keys
� Copying with Adjust or Alt-Adjust.
Special noteheads and irrational rhythms
cannot be used on grace-notes. Grace-notes
cannot be made into chords - if you want
double grace-notes, you should use two voices.
Grace-notes can be removed by pressing Delete.
