This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

How To Use The BBC Telesoftware / Met Office Satellite Data Service

(These notes apply to the BBC Micro B, B+ & Master. A separate document
(SManual) is available, giving more comprehensive details)
1. You will need the following programs on your disc:
SatLoad ; Display
You may also have some utilities, such as:
SatSeq ; SatShow ; ArcDisp
2. You will need three discs:
Label one "Master Disc", and copy onto it the files listed above.
Onto the next, copy "SatLoad" and "Display" from the master disc,
and label it "Working Disc".
The third disc should be blank, labelled "Satellite Screen Images".
3. Insert the working disc, then type: CHAIN "SatLoad".
4. The computer will search for the catalogue, which may take up to 30
seconds or so. When found, a list of files available will be displayed.
(Pressing "L" during this time will automatically download the latest file
before displaying the catalogue.)
5. Move the bar to the required file, using the cursor arrow keys, then
press RETURN to begin downloading.
6. Once downloaded, the menu of available files will return. To exit,
press ESCAPE, then confirm by pressing ESCAPE again when requested.
7. Type: CHAIN "Display". When prompted, enter the name of the file you
have downloaded. The disc catalogue will be displayed as a reminder.
8. The BBC Micro screen image will be generated from the data file. This
takes around 6 minutes, and may be left unattended if preferred.
9. When complete, the screen display is saved to disc. This should now be
copied to the "Satellite Screen Images" disc.
10. To recall the picture, insert the "Screen Images" disc, and type:
MODE 2 <RETURN>
*LOAD <screen name> <RETURN>
Alternatively, the program "SatSeq" will display each image in sequence.
