Biology/bio3
This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

EAD BIOLOGY 3 1 FOOD CYCLES Organisms need energy for activities and for growth. They also need materials for growth. Only green plants can use the sun's energy to make molecules from which energy can be obtained: other organisms depend on photosynthesis by plants. Green plants are 'producers', other organisms are 'consumers'. They are related by FOOD WEBS, CARBON and NITROGEN CYCLES. # 2 FOOD WEB A green plant will be eaten by a herbivore (PRIMARY consumer) which is eaten by a carnivore (SECONDARY consumer). This is a food chain. A food web is a network of food chains in a particular habitat. Only about 10% of the energy in food is built into living tissue and is therefore available to the next link of the chain as food, so food chains are only 3-4 organisms long. There is always a fall in numbers (or biomass) as shown.
