This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

It's aims are to find out why certain areas of land are used for certain purposes, and why they should differ from each other. My hypothesis is that certain physical and geographical factors (e.g. slope angle and soil type) cause land in Chipstead to be used for different things. The mapaccompanying thisintroduction shows the parish of Chipstead and the area that my project covers. I decided to base my report in Chipstead because I have livedthereforalong time and I am interested in finding out the reasons for the various land uses. Before writing up this project I carried out various aspects of fieldwork in order to gather data for the final presentation. These included taking photographs of various areas of land use, talking to local people and farmers and gatheringdata by walkingaroundChipstead. To present thisinfomation I plan to usea variety of different graphical means including maps to see easily different land types and uses, bar and pie charts to show the data clearer than just figures, cross-sections to see the aspect of slopes and graphs to highlight any correlations. CE BRIEF HISTORY OF CHIPSTEAD Chipstead is a parish situated on the North Downs. It mostly occupies a spur of high ground over 500 feet above sea level and was first recorded in the 7th and 8th centuries. The parish is situated very near to Banstead and Coulsdon and not too far from Croydon. The name Chipstead probably derives from 'ceapstede', a place where a market existed. Chipstead certainly possessed a fair in Tudor times, and may have been the market for a group of downland parishes. St Magarets is the parish church and is sited on the east boundry. The church building is cruciform and dates from the late 12th century. Chipstead itself covers around 6 square miles and contains a mixture of houses, small shops and farms. The main rock type is chalk and the parish possesses several natural ponds, a number of greens or commons and a small railway on the Tattenham Corner line which opened at the turn of the century.
