PDScheme/Atterer/!Crib/!Help

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

  Help file for Crib

Written on 4-4-1996 by Richard Strider Atterer.
This program is in the public domain.
The author cannot be held responsible for anything!

This program is not an application that multitasks on the desktop.
Before you run it by double-clicking on its icon in a directory display you
must install a RAM disc and copy a text file into its root directory. When
the program is finished it will save a Draw file with a correctly scaled
bitmap to RAM:CribImage.

You may ask yourself why I wrote this program when you can achieve the same
result with any word processor. The reason is that the word processor will
use outline fonts, and these are hard to read when the characters are very
small. Additionally, some printers (especially dot matrix printers) will
give better readable characters when these consist of thin lines.
If the characters appear too faint on your printer (this will be the case
with all write white laser printers), you should try switching on thick
lines. This will use bold characters.

So far,
I hope this program will allow you to spend more time on computing and less
on studying...

Yours, Richard Atterer
