It�ll cost you ..... BUSINESS DEALINGS Mission: A company on the planet Phacochoerus has almost completed a new energy system which will make its developers rich. However, they have almost exhausted their funding, with the project requiring two (tons of) new computers. They can pay xxx.x credits for the computers, and are keen for details of their system to reach the planet Aethiopicus. If you can provide the computers at the right price, and deliver the plans to Aethiopicus, they will reward you handsomely. (Nifty energy unit perhaps?) Note - if the commander tries to subsidise the computers (ie doesn�t buy them cheaply enough and therefore makes a loss), the company responds with either: we are not interested in charity - this must be a fair deal or �we don�t trust such a poor business-man with our documents, but thanks for the cheap computerssucker�! BANK OF CREDIT AND COMEDY INTERGALACTIC Mission: The Bank of Credit and Comedy Intergalactic has made some very bad loans lately, many of which can only be returned by impounding the security. (Aside: last time I went to the bank I was told I didn�t have enough cholestorol for a loan, next time I�ll throw my weight around a little more perhaps...) Consequently, if you repossess equipment to the value of 4000 credits on Neathdreeled, the bank will effectively give you 1500 credits, by allowing the equipment to be purchased for 2500 cr. Or something like that. I just liked the idea of BCCI getting into trouble... TEST FIGHTER Here�s a good mission idea: xxxxx is the major supplier of weaponry to the Galactic Navy. They have a new laser system which can produce faster repetitive bursts than standard designs. As the company have heard what a wonderful pilot Commander Warthog is, they ask him to visit their R & D Labs in Trewal. When he gets there, they explain that the Galactic Navy would like a demonstration of the laser system, at the planet Seriamente (yes that is Spanish but its only an adjective so it don�t mean much by itself). The company would like you to do the demonstration, and installs the laser system in your Cobra, disdainfully trashing the standard lasers which have served you so well. So, off you go to Seriamente (please,please,please put a planet called that in the first galaxy, �coz it might just make my life worth living again if you do - this is a very, very long story, about four years and one month I guess, but I will be eternally grateful, or quite indebted until I die at least. *PLEASE*) to do the demo. When you get there, after many moons of travelling, you dock, to be told that the demonstration will take place in the asteroid field outside the space station. Several android controlled Kraits are also involved. Basically, you implement some nifty laser gadget, and so long as the pilot gets >75% hit rate on the Kraits and misses (most of?) the asteroids, you let him keep the laser. Otherwise, his old naff ones get dragged out of the bin and bunged back into his Cobra. Or, of course, her Cobra. Cobrette? VIDEO TAPING Erm...mission: Galactic Navy requires video footage of the latest enemy battlecruisers in action. You are loaned a cloaking device which means you can float in towards the enemy (which is rather huge, like a generation ship), have a go at it to get it rattled (use that wording - ship could be a rattlesnake...), and then hyperspace to another system before it spots you. This would need to be done a couple of times at different planets, and the film delivered to a third. Successful completion gives you something like instant hyperspace, or a tractor beam for cargo scooping. The cloaking device goes back though...shame, eh? Extras: Strictly Class One Restriction: 3.27am, August 11th 1991 1) C, jettisons cargo out.
