08-04-89/Info

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

INTRODUCTION
TTXPrCJ is an updated version of Graham Bartram's TTXPrint program. It
has been written for use with the Integrex Colourjet 132 printer, and will
enable you to print out teletext frames in full colour!

GETTING STARTED
Just enter *TTXPrCJ to load and initialize the software, then enter the
Teletext Terminal in the usual manner, ie *TELETEXT.

To produce a small dump (approx. 99 by 81 millimetres) press SHIFT-F9, or
SHIFT-F8 for a big dump (approx. 194 by 156 millimetres).

Users of early versions of the GIS ATS+ (version 1.00) will need to
upgrade to version 2.00 in order to use the big dump routine. (Contact GIS
for details)

HINTS ON PRESENTATION
For high-quality dumps the printer should be placed in double-strike mode.
This can be achieved by:

1. Entering in BASIC: VDU 2,1,27,1,&3E,3 [RET], or

2. Pressing the FORM-FEED button when the printer is ON-LINE. The
ON-LINE LED will flash to indicate double-strike mode is selected.

Some frames may look better if you place the printer in enhanced colour
mode: black and white colours are swapped, and if a yellow character is
printed in a white background it is changed to green to improve clarity.
This can be achieved by entering in BASIC: VDU 2,1,27,1,&6F,3 [RET].

BEING FRAMED
One rather nice feature is that a black-border is placed around the dump
to improve presentation (unless, of course, enhanced colour mode is set).

As the printer can only print 40 characters across in double-width mode, a
bit of fudge has been used to produced the boarder; the first character on
each line is printed in NORMAL width, with subsequent characters in DOUBLE
width, and finally a SINGLE width 'BLACK BACKGROUND' character at the end
of each line to complete the effect.

As you can appreciate, if the first character of a line is not a space or
a control character the printout would look rather strange! Fortunately,
the first character is always a control character or a space, so this
problem should never occur on normal frames, and is only found on test
frames such as CEEFAX BBC2 page 797.

PROBLEMS WITH HELD GRAPHICS
Unfortunately, the Integrex Colourjet 132 does have a couple of irritating
bugs; one of these concerns the use of the Hold Graphics facility:

When use is made of the Hold Graphics facility the printer will then
correctly print the last graphics character. However, it will print this
(and subsequent graphics characters) in Separated Graphics mode
irrespective of any Continuous Graphics character.

This should not be noticeable on most pages but will be apparent on
Teletext 'Art' pages.
