This package needs to be set-up to work, see the section on Setting-up first! History ======= I have just laid hands on my new RiscPC and the colour! The machine comes with a package !Slideshow and I thought it would be really nice to have these images on the backdrop. I couldn't decide which image to have so I've used them all ! (THIS PACKAGE ONLY USES SPRITE FORMAT, NOT JPEG, SO YOU MUST CONVERT THEM FIRST) All Change changes the backdrop of the machine once every X centiseconds. This value is user defined. I have set my machine to 12,000 centiseconds, or once every 2 minutes. Driving it ========== If you are getting bored with the image on the backdrop you can click the icon on the iconbar with the select button (left) and the image revolves to the next one in the queue. If you menu button (middle) over the icon on the iconbar, surprise, surprise, you get a menu. It contains the Info and Quit. The adjust button (right) will remove the backdrop completely reverting to a plain ordinary desktop. Plain and simple if you are displaying dirty or obscene backdrops and a spouse, parent or teacher comes along and you don't want an ear bashing, hit the eject button and the program closes down, though the icon is still on the icon bar. Press the select button (left) on the mouse and the computer will go to the next picture in the queue and resume as normal. Setting Up ========== To set up this application you must enter the application directory. If you hold down the shift key on the !AllChange application (program) and double click, you will enter into the application directory where you will find a file called 'Config1'. This file is a simple ASCII text file which holds the pictures titles you wish to display the length of time to display each image, and how they should be displayed. The file format is: 12000 C ADFS::4.subdir.bridge T ADFS::4.subdir.cow S ADFS::4.subdir.house The 12000 is the number of centiseconds you wish EACH image displayed for. There are 100 centiseconds in one second, and 60 seconds in a minute. Therefore, 2 minutes x 60 seconds x 100 centiseconds is 12000. This MUST be the first value on the first line. YOU'RE ONLY ALLOWED ONE TIME LIMIT! Thereafter you specify each image and how it is displayed, where it is found and what order it plays it. There are three options in setting up a backdrop; C = Centered, T = Tiled, and S = Scaled. If the image is Centered it will be exactly the same size as the image but in the middle of the screen surrounded by a grey background. Tiled means that the image will be repeated to fill the screen at a 1:1 size ratio, small pictures will be repeated lots of times and big images once or twice. Scaled means that the picture will be made to fit the screen once so if you have a very small picture and a very big screen mode the backdrop will be very bitty & chunky. The pathname of the picture appears to be the hardest bit, but it actually the easiest. Load !Edit or !Zap and load Config1 into it. Decide if you want the picture to be T,C, or S and type a space character. Then hold down the shift and drag the picture file onto the line you wish the path to go (still holding down the shift key) the path will fall directly onto the page. You do this for up to 100 pathnames If you want this to be auto-loaded place the package in your boot file. This package is FREEWARE. You are legally allowed to use it and to pass it around.
